SHAKING IT UP…
WITH A GOOD OLE FASHIONED
MILKSHAKE
BY
GOSSELINGIRL
Nothing says summer like a good ole fashioned milkshake. I don’t know about you, but I like to shake my milkshakes up at bit.
I have fond memories of going uptown with my Dad to get a milkshake at the old Kaftans’ Drug Store in Mount Morris, Michigan. At the drugstore they had an ice-cream parlor with the old stools that spun around. Such great memories of fun times with my Dad.
The two of us use to sit on those stools and have a milkshake together. Mine was always vanilla and my Dad always had to have chocolate. Such sweet childhood memories of long ago.
Well, if you can’t bring back the good ole days and the old fashioned ice-cream parlors…then make your own milkshake memories at home.
Here is a you tube video on How To Make A Milkshake…
I am including some of the many recipes I have in my file box for great homemade milkshakes. Recipes are compliments of Cooks.com
PEANUT BUTTER BANANA MILKSHAKE
1 whole sliced banana
2 heaping tablespoons peanut butter
4 scoops ice cream
slightly more than 1 cup
Place all ingredients in the blender. Start on crush to make sure the banana pieces and the peanut butter blend together. Put the blender on smoothie until the milkshake is nice and smooth.
WHOPPERS CANDY MILKSHAKE
1/2 cup whoppers malted milk balls
1/2 cup milk
1 1/2 cups vanilla ice cream
1. Place malted milk balls, milk and ice cream in blender container.
2. Cover; blend until consistency of thick milk shake, with bits of candy throughout. Pour into large glass.
Serve immediately.
Makes one serving.
MANGO MILKSHAKE

1 ripe freshly sliced and peeled mango
cold milk
sugar, to taste
mango ice-cream
Take a washed, ripe, freshly sliced and peeled mango and put it in the blender. Take some cold milk, sugar to taste and put it in the blender as well. After blending the smoothie, pour it into a cup or glass and cover it with cold mango ice-cream for a great taste.
This recipe is a real refresher and is healthy!
DIET MILKSHAKE

1 c. liquid skim milk
1/3 c. instant nonfat dry milk powder
1 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. liquid sugar substitute
6-8 ice cubes
Place skim milk, milk powder, cocoa, vanilla, and liquid sugar substitute in container of electric blender. Cover and put on high speed until smooth. Remove center of cover and add ice cubes one at a time, blending until ice is crushed.
Serve immediately in tall glasses. Makes 2 servings (77 calories each). For coffee shake replace cocoa with 1 1/2 teaspoons instant coffee (69 calories each).
Hope you enjoy these milkshake recipes and the video. Make a little milkshake magic with your family at home. Nothing says summer like shaking it up with a cold tasting milkshake. Oh.. It’s So Good!
