Controlled by the Almighty Clock

WEEK 4-CONTROL

Since the beginning of life, all human kind has been controlled in some way by time. Whether it be the rising or setting of the sun…our whole life is controlled by the amount of time in each day.

It has no barriers, no restrictions, and does not stop for anyone or anything. From the moment we enter this world, it seizes our life and determines all that we will accomplish in a day. What time is breakfast? What time is lunch? What time is dinner? Everyone and everything is centered around this one thing….TIME.
Countries have tried to slow it down, thus creating time zones and day light savings hours. We work our jobs based upon a set schedule. Some are daytime workers and some are nighttime workers. Time does not stop until our life stops completely.
Time regulates all business hours, stock markets, our sleep patterns, the buying and selling of goods, and all that we are allowed to accomplish in a day. Time never sleeps.

Over our lifetime we have been under its spell. We wake at a certain hour to work jobs that are controlled by time. Everyday business and communications are controlled by each minute or hour that can be squeezed into a 24 hour day.

What if time stood still for just one day? Nothing would get accomplished in the world. Life as we know it would cease to exist. Food would not get delivered, our economies would crash, and we would have no money to pay our bills.
It amazes me how one simple factor can control the lives of millions upon millions of people each and everyday. Dictating who, what, where, when, why, and how we live our lives.
Not too many people ever really notice this in their lives. When do we ever really sit still and not worry about what time it is? How many times a day do we look at a clock and plan our whole day around its movements?
On the other hand, time can be beneficial to us all. It keeps us in check with the important things we need to get done in a day. Time helps us plan our comings and goings. Our accomplishments are set to time. Music is set to time. Everything we touch each day is focused on a routine that we walk through everyday…all controlled by TIME.
The only way to escape its constraints is to go someplace far away where there are no clocks. To sit still for just one day and look around. Even then, time is still visible. It doesn’t stop for the animals, nature, the sun, or the moon.

"The only reason for time is so that

everything doesn’t happen at once.”

Albert Einstein

There is no escaping the control it has over us every moment of our lives. TIME only stops when we take our last breathe or close our eyes for the last time. I believe that is when peace sets in. No more worries and we are finally freed of its bondage.

“Time is free, but it’s priceless. You can’t

own it, but you can use it. You can’t keep

it, but you can spend it. Once you’ve lost it
you can never get it back.”
