One Year Ago….Ten Years Ago
I will remember you…

By

I can still remember where I was when I first heard of the attack on my beloved country. As I watched the towers fall, tears streamed down my face. I just couldn’t grasp what I was watching on the television. How could something so horrific be happening right before my very eyes?

While I will never understand why evil prevails, I know in my heart that my God is a God of love. It was not something God would do. However, I do know that is something that Evil would do. Evil in such a way that it would literally be engrained in my mind forever.

Lives were lost on September 11, 2001. Many families would never be the same. Our nation would never be the same. As each year passed, we carried on, one step closer, one year older, and for many one year more away from the ones they loved. Taken from us by the hands of terrorism. Somehow, we carried on.

Today, marked the 10th Anniversary of 9/11. As I watched the memorial, I couldn’t help but be taken back to that horrific day. I cried throughout the entire memorial, as I watched the loved ones say the names of all those we lost. I was saddened deeply within my heart. Still trying to understand to this day and make sense of all that has happened.

I love my country and all that it stands for. I will always remember the first responders, mothers, fathers, sisters, brother, uncles, aunts, children and all those who lost their lives on this day. You are not forgotten in the hearts of all Americans. As each year carries on I will always remember what happened on 9/

Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning) with Lyrics

In Remembrance
A flag of honor, a flag for reflection
It stands for us all uniting this nation.
It will keep in our minds this tragic day,
Memories of such heroic acts shall not go away. As we look on this flag of cloth and thread,
A field of bright red for the blood that was shed.
Not just on this day of lasting memories,
But for lives that were given through out history.
Two towers of strength that rose up so high,
Reaching for dreams, they stretched to the sky.
They lay now in ruin at the hands of hate,
Great symbols of our nation have met this fate.
Out nation's military housed in a fortress of steel;
We're reminded this day that war is so real.
Hitting the heart of our power and might,
Rise up America, this terror we must fight!
Stars that shine on a field of bright blue,
Remind us of heroes with hearts so true.
An ordinary day, it had started out to be,
Soon their lives would be given for you and me. A circle is drawn to stand for our nation's unity,
A nation coming together through such tragedy.
A reminder is given for all of America to see,
That our freedom is never really free.
"God Bless America" is written in white,
Make this your prayer each and every night.
God is always with us, He knows our needs
Bring America back to God, should be our decree.
Much was given, many were lost on this day,
A man of terror tried to take our spirit away.
Do not let our new found spirit and unity fade,
As you look on this flag, remember this day ...

  3. I believe there were millions of tears reliving the terror of 9-11, you were not and are not alone in your sadness and sorrow. We lost our innocence that day and will, as a nation, never get that back. As individuals, we will never forget and never feel quite so isolated and safe.
    Very beautifully written.

  4. The whole country stared in horror and disbelief that day, as did much of the world. I wish that this decade would have brought us closer to peace, but sadly, it seems that's something still out of our grasp.
